Management Training
This one hour workshop is intended primarily for those in management or policy making position. Our facilitators help you to understand the AODA and requirements your organization will need to meet under the Customer Service Standards. We will overview items such as :
- purpose of the AODA
- required policies & procedures related to persons with disabilities
- Policies regarding assistive devices, service animals and support persons
- type of training required for staff
- compliance reports and enforcement
Customer Service Training
This three hour workshop provides the customer service training required by the Act. Staff learn to provide accessible customer service to persons with disabilities. While the training is required for front line staff it is valuable to all. Our interactive and engaging workshop covers items such as:
- purpose of the AODA
- the various types of disabilities
- how to interact and communicate with customers that have disabilities
- interacting with customers that use service animals or support persons
- use of adaptive equipment
- how to assist someone having difficulty accessing your services
Abilities & Awareness Workshop
The Abilities and Awareness Workshop is a four hour informative and experiential learning opportunity about persons with disabilities. This entertaining workshop helps participants to learn and feel comfortable with issues related to persons with disabilities. The material is presented through Group discussion, interactive exercises, multi medial presentation and hands-on disability awareness exercises. This workshop covers items such as:
- Appropriate language
- Types of disabilities
- Types of barriers
- Related legislation
- Prevalence of disability
- Everyday realities of living with a disability
- Facts and myths
- Disability awareness exercises
